Hamden Art League will host Lily Kok-Forbush at January 2015 meeting.

Local artist and brush painter Lily Kok-Forbush will be the guest artist at the upcoming meeting of the Hamden Art League on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. In An Introduction to the Joy of Brush Painting, Kok-Forbush will speak about the history of Chinese brush painting and will give demonstrations of the various implements used and how to set up to paint in this method. She will show how to paint the four traditional subjects - bamboo, chrysanthemum, plum blossom, and mountain orchid, as well as various leaves and plants. In addition, the artist will cover the painting of various animals – panda, fish, birds etc., and landscapes utilizing this ancient art of ink and brush.

Lily holds a BA degree from Beloit College, MS from Southern Connecticut State University, has studied at the Maryland Art Institute, and was a Studio Potter at Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven for 15 years. She has taken numerous classes at CAW in drawing, watercolor, and metalwork. A member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society, Kok-Forbush exhibits in the Northeast and in the Netherlands and has won several awards for her work. Teaching experience includes public schools, Creative Arts Workshop and private classes.
